My name is Tapiwa Masanzu. I was born and raised in Zimbabwe and am completing my graduate studies in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. Coming from a culture where mental health was rarely discussed sparked my curiosity early on and inspired me to pursue this path. It also gave me a deep appreciation for the ways culture and identity shape our lives. I take a culturally and trauma-informed approach to supporting individuals as they navigate identity, belonging, self-worth, and overall well-being.

Before beginning my journey toward becoming a Registered Psychotherapist, I worked with community agencies. These experiences taught me that resilience often emerges in the face of hardship and reinforced my belief that everyone deserves compassionate support during life’s challenges.

In my practice, I aim to create a safe and empathetic space where people feel heard and understood. I take an integrative approach, drawing from CBT, ACT, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy, while incorporating practices such as grounding, reflection, and self-care to foster healing and resilience. I believe true change happens when emotional safety is combined with practical strategies, and I am committed to walking alongside people as they move toward clarity and empowerment.

Truth be told, I was lost in life until I was 25. I didn’t know what I was doing with myself after high-school. I got into coding, coaching, accounting, welding, even archaeology.

It wasn’t until I started learning about psychology that I was able to find direction in life. In learning the theories I gained a better understanding of myself, my nature and my unconscious goals. It not only gave me understanding, but it helped me find a path in life that I could be passionate about.

Now I want to help other people experience the same thing. Life can be difficult to navigate, regardless of what age you are. What I aim to offer is guided introspection, self-discovery, and a life in harmony with your true self.
